The number of educational and tertiary educational institutions in South Africa is vast, ranging from the 23 state funded universities to the plethora of colleges and private tertiary institutions that offer qualifications/further study in virtually every known work discipline. The internet will of course be the biggest single source of information as to “where to study”, but the sheer volume and choice can be somewhat daunting. The hard media (newspapers) make valiant efforts to bring education information to the masses through their “matric guides” and “educational supplements.” These supplements in turn contain nominal advertising by tertiary institutions/colleges.
